Book Review: Touch of Power by Maria V. Snyder *spoiler free*

Updated: Jun 12, 2018

I loved this book! There is something very particular that i love about this book.  Unfortunately, i cannot pinpoint exactly what that is.  It is similar to the feeling i get from watching Legend of the Seeker, and Firefly.

There is a cast of sympathetic characters with witty banter and a sense of real camaraderie.  There is a specific objective, and all matter of evil getting in their way.  The journey feels adventurous.

Both gain and loss are experienced.  Yet, this book feels incredibly GOOD the whole time.  Everything that happens seems to progress logically and in real time.

Well okay, maybe logical is not the word i am looking for.  There are plenty of magical elements, and fantastic elements, throughout this story.  It is so easy to become emotionally invested.  Any sudden or unexpected obstacles do not just jump out from nowhere simply for the sake of creating conflict.

The drama that ensues does not feel shallow or fake.  This was an immersive read.  I was ready to jump in, and adventure with its characters.  Even with all the danger.
